Shane Joyce- ‘Blame’ (Official Video)

At an early age, Shane Joyce was influenced by the great songsmiths Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and the ninety-mile-an-hour writings of beat poets Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. At fifteen, he picked up his first guitar… an old nylon string, and soon after the songs started to fall out from head to hands to paper. And they have been coming ever since.

Though still strongly influenced by those folk heroes of his past, in recent years, Shane has been able to gain new influence from a multitude of other facets of writing, so that everything from the likes of Ernest Hemingway to T. S. Eliot to more recent luminaries such as Phosphorescent and Laura Marling may find their way into Shane’s work.

His musical career began by busking on the streets of Kilkenny city, where he was picked up one day by bass player Brian McGrath, who had been looking for a singer for his new band and soon Americana/folk group ‘The Midnight Union Band’ was formed. With the band Shanecontinues to tour and put out records.

This EP is a solo project Shane has endeavoured upon and is an introduction to the poet and singer songwriter that seemed to always reside in him.
