26th– 31st October 2016

Following their recent sold-out show at Whelan’s and their amazing set at Castlepalooza, SLIGO LIVE are delighted to announce ORCHID COLLECTIVE as Special Guests to THE SAW DOCTORS on Sunday, 30th October 2016 at Knocknarea Arena.  Tickets: Limited Seating €29.50 (plus service charge) / Standing €27.50 (plus service charge) are on sale now.

Together for just over a year ORCHID COLLECTIVE have been gigging relentlessly throughout Ireland and have worked tirelessly creating a fresh and exciting live show for their growing audience.  Mixing a combination of vocal harmonies and ambient soundscapes, akin to the likes of their inspirations Villagers, James Vincent McMorrow and Bon Iver.

The band’s skilled musicianship is transferred to their impressive live shows, with stand-out performances at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Castlepalooza, Knockanstockan, Spirit of Folk, Glasgowbury, and the Galway International Arts Festival.   They supported Boston based Mutual Benefit on the Irish leg of their European tour and released their debut single ‘Figure It Out’ last year along with starting 2016 as Whelan’s “Ones to Watch”.   Their second single “Lay As Stone” released earlier this year received rave reviews and national radio exposure.

ORCHID COLLECTIVE return with their latest release entitled ‘Courage’, a cosmic 4 track EP which is set to release on October 21st. Consisting of David O Shea (lead vocals, guitar), Shea Tohill (lead guitar, vocals), Hugh O’Neill (bass, vocals) and Brian Roony (drums, vocals) the band have been gigging relentlessly across Ireland, developing their unique sound and quickly making a name for themselves as an unforgettable live act.   Through their own distinct use of vocal harmonies and searing layers of reverbed guitars; Orchid Collective make themselves known as a band that set themselves apart from their contemporaries, offering a bold new imagining of the indie genre.

THE SAW DOCTORS make a welcome return to SLIGO LIVE FESTIVAL where they will perform live at Knocknarea Arena on Sunday, 30th October 2016.  Tickets: Limited Seating €29.50 (plus service charge) / Standing €27.50 (plus service charge) are on sale now. The Saw Doctors were discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys, who produced the band’s first single,N17, written by singer Davy Carton and guitarist Leo Moran. Scott offered the band a support slot on The Waterboy’s Irish and British Tour and The Saw Doctors were on their way.   They topped the Irish Music Singles Chart with their punked up version of the Sugababes song “About You Now”.   “I Useta Lover” still holds the record for the biggest selling Irish single.  The band’s first album, “If This Is Rock & Roll, I Want My Old Job Back” was Number One in Ireland for almost a year.  A string of much-loved self-written releases followed. Songs like Red Cortina, The Green and Red of Mayo, Joyce Country Céilí Band, Clare Island and To Win Just Once were adopted as the anthems of an Irish generation at home and overseas.  Loved by their loyal fans, THE SAW DOCTORS continue with resilience and effervescent energy, with a new album release and a return to touring in late 2016 and next year. The Saw Doctors have built up a reputation as one of the most amazing and invigorating live acts on the circuit.
