Recorded live in Ireland at my studio in Donegal.

Weird timing with the this songs name/ release date and the storm hitting the east coast of the states, it wasn’t intentional!

Joyous – Tupelo (featuring The Line-Up Choir)

Kevin and James released their new album The Heart’s Bloodline on the Crashed Records Label earlier this spring, to some wonderful comments and acclaim both here at home and abroad. Indeed, The Shriven Dust recently featured on the Canadian CBC network TV series, Hello Goodbye.

The most recent single Joyous, has received some splendid feedback. We are now thrilled to share its video. The live video was filmed at Dublin’s Grand Social venue on Lower Liffey Street, one beautiful, sunny Saturday morning earlier this spring and features the simply stunning Line Up Choir.

“We were thrilled to have The Line Up Choir join us,” said James “and also delighted and honoured they choose Joyous to feature in their own live concert at the RDS following our working together.” This writer loves the song regardless, but the addition of The Line Up Choir takes it somewhere very special indeed!

Currently in the USA for Chicago Irish Festival and other live commitments, on their return James and Kevin head to Norway for Tynesfest.

The band’s rescheduled Dublin headline show takes place on Saturday September 8th at The Grand Social, on Dublin’s Liffey Street. Tickets priced €12 and €15 are now on sale from tickets.ie

**Tickets purchased for the original concert (at Tramline), which had to be postponed in March due to the snow storm, are valid for this new date at The Grand Social.

SÍOMHA : SPÉIR RUA AN IÚIL : Beo sa Bhóireann

SÍOMHA releases one of her most popular songs, July Red Sky, in Irish in a beautiful stripped down version, accompanied by just keys and bodhrán. The video was recorded live on the edge of the unmistakable limestone slabs of The Burren in Síomha’s native Co. Clare, with the wildatlantic way as a stunning backdrop. The warmth of the summer sky is echoed in the jazz and soul infused song, which was inspired by thesight that greeted Síomha as she drove home in the early hours after late night gigs; catching the brilliant reds of the sun rise in her rear view mirror and pausing to watch the colours of day and night bleed together until it was finally bright.
SÍOMHA’s love for her native land and language pour out of her and she is continually inspired by the beautiful and rugged landscape of her native west of Ireland. A fierce proponent and lover of the Irish language, Síomha performs Irish versions of most of her songs. The poetry in her lyrics is not lost due to the beautiful translations by her friend Billy Mag Fhlionn.

Tá leagan Gaeilge álainn de cheann de na hamhráin is clúití atá ag Síomha, July Red Sky, eisithe aici gan ach tionlacan pianó agus bodhráin leis. Rinneadh taifead ar an fhíseán beo ar imeall na leac aolchloiche so-aitheanta sa Bhoirinn i gContae an Chláir, ceantar dúchais Shíomha. Sa chúlra, tá Slí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin. Teas na spéire samhraidh atá le cloisteáil i snag-cheol agus ceol soul an amhráin. Is í an íomhá sin a bhí mar spreagadh
leis an amhrán agus Síomha ag tiomáint na bhaile go luath ar maidin i ndiaidh ceolchoirmeacha na hoíche; ag feiceáil dearg éirí na gréine ina scáthán cúil agus ag stopadh le dathanna na hoíche agus na maidine a fheiceáil ag rith isteach ina chéile.

Tá grá mór ag Síomha dá ceantar dúchais agus don Ghaeilge agus bíonn sí spreagtha go minic ag tírdhreach garbh, álainn iarthar na hÉireann. Tá a croí istigh sa Ghaeilge agus canann Síomha leaganacha Gaeilge den chuid is mó dá hamhráin. Tá filíocht a cuid liricí slán mar gheall ar aistriúcháin ghalánta a carad, Billy Mag Fhlionn.

Lauren Guillery – Love This Life [Official]

French rock musician Lauren Guillery is thrilled to announce the release of her debut album’s first single LOVE THIS LIFE ahead of her album launch party in DeBarra’s Folk Club, Clonakilty on May 25th 2018. The single is being released in conjunction with a music video that features the artist walking the streets of Cork city and close-ups of her face smudged with make-up. As of May 18th, the track LOVE THIS LIFEcomes as a free download with the pre-order of the album DISASTER IN LA LA LAND on Bandcamp and other digital platforms.

DISASTER IN LA LA LAND (out May 25th, self-release) has been a few years in the making and is comprised of twelve tracks that sway between pop and punk with a slice of blues thrown in. Recorded in two Leinster locations with two different rhythm sections, the album was co-produced by Stephen Shannon (MOUNT ALASKA, STRANDS) at Experimental Audio in Dublin. It features amongst other musicians SPOOK OF THE THIRTHEENTH LOCK drummer Brian O’Higgins and LAND LOVERS bassist Shane Murphy. The first single from the album, LOVE THIS LIFE is a catchy number that recalls 70’s krautrock era with its repetitive drumbeat, and speaks about a woman’s struggle with realising she suffers from depression. A musically fun and thought-out album, DISASTER IN LA LA LAND recounts stories of Guillery’s life in Dublin city where she lived for fifteen years, before moving southwest of Cork.

Originally from France, Lauren Guillery immigrated to Ireland in early 2000 and powered her way through the Dublin open-mic circuit and onto the stages of Ireland’s most prestigious clubs. She was awarded ‘Best International’ at the inaugural BalconyTV music video awards 2007 and self-released the same year her four track EP LISTEN! She toured Ireland opening for Irish post-rock outfit GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT amongst other high profile Irish acts (CATHY DAVEY, JINX LENNON, NINA HYNES). Recent performances include an appearance at CLONAKILTY INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL, and supports to PILLOW QUEENS and American slide-guitar one-man band BOB LOG III.

All Tvvins Photographed by Ruth Medjber www.ruthlessimagery.comFollowing a sold out Irish tour earlier this year, All Tvvins return to Cork for their biggest show to date when they headline a standing show at Cork Opera House on Saturday, October 27th, as part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival.

All Tvvins capped a triumphant 2017 by playing to 15,000 people at the 3Arena (2FM Xmas Ball), alongside a Choice Music Prize nomination for their excellent debut album, IIVV. A string of mesmerising singles as seen the band straddle both the commercial and alternative airwaves, while their increasingly mind-blowing live show has seen them fill venues like Dublin’s Olympia with ease.

Along the way, they have toured Europe, played SXSW, shared stages with Arcade Fire, Foals and Pixies; amassed over 10 million spotify streams; and Lar was introduced to The Edge of U2 fame, who was not only “very humble and a really nice dude”, but already knew All Tvvins’ music.

The band are currently working on their follow up album to their debut and are scheduled to release it later in 2018. Whereas they previously painstakingly crafted each song together, they instead found themselves creating almost completed ideas individually before allowing the other partner to put their stamp on it.

Most of the new tracks emerged on piano and synths before being fleshed out into a band dynamic. Inspired by a whole world of influences, Lar describes them as being “varied and extreme” and “emotionally charged”, while Conor notes that his interest in keys means that he has been writing a lot more on piano.

Expect some new tracks at the Opera House show, delivered by one of the most savvy, cutting edge and talented musical duos Ireland has to offer.
