Arcadia are on their way to All Together Now.

7Q7A8257-2.jpgArcadia is the fantastic brainchild of scrap metal sculptor Pip Rush Jansen and engineer Bert Cole. Pip and Bert met in Ireland 10 years ago and, whilst here, hatched a plan to create a bespoke installation to challenge festival convention. Thus, award winning art collective Arcadia was born.

Since its inception, hundreds of thousands of people have danced around, under and over Arcadia’s incredible, eye-popping installations across four continents.

It’s fitting that Arcadia return to Ireland to celebrate their tenth anniversary, but the setting had to be right. To that end, Pip flew to Ireland to explore the grounds of Curraghmore House, Ireland’s largest private estate – and the setting for the inaugural All Together Now Festival.ShotAway-01.jpg

‘I was totally blown away. I’ve seen extreme festival sites from the Black Rock Desert to glamorous harbour-sides in Miami to skyscraper strewn city centres around the world and this may just top the lot!

The scale is unreal, from the campsite at the top of the hill, you can see lush woodland and rolling hills for miles around, all leading to the mountains with no neighbours anywhere in sight. We even found an ancient Celtic stone circle where people had clearly been drawn by the magical landscape to celebrate the rhythms of life there since time immemorial. And the building itself has such a mystical beauty – what an incredible place for a festival.’

ShotAway-11.jpgThe setting was right. Curraghmore is the perfect spot for The Arcadia Afterburner, an immersive 360 degree installation that has rocked crowds from Burning Man to the Dalmatian coast and from New Zealand to Glastonbury.

At its heart is a flaming spire that houses the DJ booth and shoots fireballs above the crowd as light radiates outwards to a ring of flaming trees. Raised platforms spiral into the crowd creating multi level dynamics and allowing the crowd to dance on the structure itself, balancing intense intimacy with a powerful sense of monumentality.

Built from repurposed military hardware, the Afterburner fuses sound, light, sacred geometry, an inward facing 360 degree soundfield and 20 foot flames amplifying both the music and the energy into an unforgettable dancefloor experience.

AFTERBURNERLOVESAVESTHEDAY-4.jpgWhilst The Afterburner brings that uniquely immersive environment, with an amazing roster of DJs bringing the performance. There is a line up of very special guests still to be announced, so stay tuned to hear who will be spinning to on this unbelievable interactive stage!
In a truly remarkable setting, with 16 stages, music, comedy, spoken word, bespoke food, theatre, a dedicated kids area, wellness area, its very own eco water, commitment to sustainability and much much more, All Together Now also has this fire breathing gem at its heart.

‘I’m honoured to be invited back to Ireland and really can’t express how excited we are to be running a stage at All Together Now. Of all the crowds we’ve ever worked with the Irish are always right up there as one of the friendliest and most energetic. we’re so fired up to be coming back. This really is like a homecoming for us and we couldn’t think of anything more perfect in our 10th anniversary year.’

All Together Now are proud to welcome Arcadia to join revellers for what will truly be a magical August Bank Holiday weekend. When the balmy August sun sets, the flames will shoot skywards.

There are times when you know that everything is going to work just perfectly.

Walking through the gates of the magnificent Curraghmore Estate in Portlaw to attend the inaugural concert as part of the Comeraghs Wild festival, you could not help but feel that this was going to be something special, not just on this night but for future musical events.

The decision to open the grounds to such an event was a brave one and I am sure a nervous one initially. Any fears would have quickly dissipated as the large audience, estimated at around 2,000, began to arrive.

Rue De La Coupe had the honour of welcoming people with their perfect mix of well known songs, all of which were delivered in fine style and which set the tone for the night ahead.

As the sun began to set over the historic home of the 9th Marquis of Waterford, a slew of hot air balloons could be rising from behind this incredible building into the blue still skies, adding to the already special atmosphere.

Shortly afterwards Kíla from Dublin, playing their unique fusion of Irish and Eastern European music took to the stage and upped the tempo even further for the next hour and a half. The party mood was now in full swing.

Incidentally, Rónan Ó’Snodaigh, the singer with Kíla, will perform in his own right in St. Patrick’s Gateway in Waterford on the 10th October, tickets from MOMO on Patrick’s Street.

Finally, Mary Black, the headline act, showed the audience why she has remained one of Ireland’s much-loved female singers. Working her way through her vast catalogue, including ‘Katie, A Woman’s Heart and Carolina Rua”, Mary soon had the happy audience in the palm of her hand. For this observer, the magic moment of the evening came when she and her excellent band launched into ’Straight as a Dye’, giving band members their own moment in the spotlight. With the backdrop of Curraghmore House, awash in coloured light, a content audience and amazing music, the potential for this place to be an amazing venue for future concerts was plain for all to see and indeed hear.

Mary Black

The organisers got it spot on and if they replicate it again next year, there is no reason why Curraghmore House could be a venue to be reckoned with. Lord Waterford and the all the team responsible can take a bow on a job well done.

This concert was the showpiece of the annual Comeraghs Wild Festival and a brave step forward for all concerned
