‘The Dark’ is the first single taken from Laura’s new E.P. ‘Ceremony’ which will be released to the world this Friday 8th June. ‘Ceremony’ is the result of four years hard work honing a craft for which the young songwriter has already been lauded for with her self-titled debut release.
The experience of being part of the Irish contingent for this years Eurovision entry has also provided Laura with something not many performers get to do in their careers. ‘Together’, was co-written by Laura with fellow Irish musicians Ryan O’Shaughnessy and Mark Caplice provided Ireland with their first Eurovision grand finals appearance in five years and captured the hearts of not only the Irish public but nations all around the world.
Laura’s new songs have been well received by audiences so far having been given a live airing at recent performances at the Ruby Sessions and as special guest to Canadian–American songwriter Justin Nozuka in The Sugar Club. Her unique voice has seen her build a substantial fan base from across the world with her YouTube channel amassing an astonishing 2.5 million views.
‘Ceremony’ is a celebration of a talented songwriter bringing her undeniable talent to the fore with each song being born from her life’s experiences. The four song E.P. captures a journey from darkness to light and showcases the distinctive vocal and writing talent of a songwriter on the cusp of something very special.
‘The Dark’ is the first single to be taken from ‘Ceremony’ and is available now with the full E.P. to follow this Friday, 8th June.
This is a list of all the artists whose albums or EP’s I have featured on the Irish Music Show during 2017. It’s just the tip of the iceberg. The downside of a weekly two hour show is that I cannot play all the albums I’d like to so I have to make that choice each week. Even from this list you can see the wealth of talent that exists in Ireland
“Empty Vessels”. Produced by Joe Cross (Hurts, Chloe Howl, The Courteeners), “Empty Vessels” was recorded in Dublin’s Cauldron Studios (Hozier, The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan).
“Empty Vessels” is a thrilling three minutes of bouncing beats, dreamy guitars, and tropical synths. This video comes just two weeks after the band’s last release, “Be American”, and is the latest in a run of previously unreleased material that Neon Wolf will be sharing over the coming weeks. “Over the last few years we have built up a catalogue of great recordings that until this point have never been heard by the public”, says Neon Wolf frontman Rob Grace, “so we decided that we’d put them out there, so everybody can hear and enjoy the songs”.
Neon Wolf’s debut EP, Love Lost In Design topped iTunes charts in Ireland and was also released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, receiving both national and regional airplay. In 2012, the band were also awarded the RTÉ RAAP Breakthrough Bursary, having been chosen out of a list of thousands of entrants.
Since then Neon Wolf have built a staunch fan-base in both Ireland and around the world. They have entertained crowds at festivals throughout the country, such as Electric Picnic, Longitude, Sea Sessions, Other Voices, and Indiependence. They have also been invited to play support to many internationally famous bands, such as Stereophonics (Kilmainham Hospital), Feeder (The Academy), The 1975 (The Academy), Alabama Shakes (The Academy), and Hudson Taylor (Olympia Theatre).

Dublin duo We Cut Corners have released their latest music video for their moving opus ‘Of Whatever’ from their new, acclaimed album ‘The Cadences of Others’.
The video was created and directed by Jon Hozier-Byrne of Stoneface Films, and features the model/actress Megan O’Malley sleeping, before drowning in her own bed.
The video communicates a sense of anxiety and of comfort being torn away by an unexpected, unwelcome wave of panic. What begins as an intimate, warm vignette slowly evolves into a gripping moment of real terror, all scored with We Cut Corner’s haunting, timely refrain; “A wave of whatever is sweeping the nation.”
“Jon draws from such a deep well of knowledge and nous that he instantly articulated as concise a vision for this song as we could have ever imagined,” says John Duignan of We Cut Corners. “The idea of ‘sleeping through’ the pivotal moments of your life is the ultimate expression of apathy, the major theme underpinning the song. The Klimtian tableaus that build toward the nightmarish denouement make for the most fitting visual foil to our favourite song on the new record.”
Jon Hozier-Byrne previous work includes music videos for Irish acts such as Little Hours, Hometown, and Hozier, as well as an entry in the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. He remarked, “We Cut Corners are one of those rare bands that you listen to once, and immediately know how special they are. John and Conall are real artists, they have a unique viewpoint and express it beautifully. With such rich source material, creating a video that tried to visually represent a specific, generational anxiety seemed the only fitting accompaniment.”
We Cut Corners are John Duignan and Conall Ó Breacháin. The pair have carved out a place in the Irish music scene with their unique mix of songs, from angular pop and garage rock to wistful indie-folk, always coupled with their unique lyrical deftness. Both We Cut Corners’ debut and sophomore albums were nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year.
