“Empty Vessels”. Produced by Joe Cross (Hurts, Chloe Howl, The Courteeners), “Empty Vessels” was recorded in Dublin’s Cauldron Studios (Hozier, The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan).
“Empty Vessels” is a thrilling three minutes of bouncing beats, dreamy guitars, and tropical synths. This video comes just two weeks after the band’s last release, “Be American”, and is the latest in a run of previously unreleased material that Neon Wolf will be sharing over the coming weeks. “Over the last few years we have built up a catalogue of great recordings that until this point have never been heard by the public”, says Neon Wolf frontman Rob Grace, “so we decided that we’d put them out there, so everybody can hear and enjoy the songs”.
Neon Wolf’s debut EP, Love Lost In Design topped iTunes charts in Ireland and was also released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, receiving both national and regional airplay. In 2012, the band were also awarded the RTÉ RAAP Breakthrough Bursary, having been chosen out of a list of thousands of entrants.
Since then Neon Wolf have built a staunch fan-base in both Ireland and around the world. They have entertained crowds at festivals throughout the country, such as Electric Picnic, Longitude, Sea Sessions, Other Voices, and Indiependence. They have also been invited to play support to many internationally famous bands, such as Stereophonics (Kilmainham Hospital), Feeder (The Academy), The 1975 (The Academy), Alabama Shakes (The Academy), and Hudson Taylor (Olympia Theatre).

Maria Kelly hails from Mayo and has been captivating audiences with her ‘bare-boned’ live performances since the age of fourteen. Her music is a subtle blend of atmospheric-folk, tells humanizing and heart-breaking tales, with ‘pin-drop’ vocal precision that’s impossible to ignore.
‘Stitches’ is the hauntingly beautiful new single by Maria Kelly and will be released on October 7th. Maria plays HWCHs Festival 2016 on the same weekend, Wigwam on Saturday 8th October, to be precise. For this gig Maria will be joined by her band.
For a track as mesmerizing as ‘Stitches’ you need an equally spell binding video!
Director, Kate Dolan & Producer, Shane Andrew Kelly give us a little insight to the video here;
The music video for ‘Stitches’ follows Maria as she becomes obsessed with preparing for an on-coming storm, and begins to distance herself more and more from her lover.
“We wanted to convey the complex situation that Maria articulates in her lyrics – an inability to open up to someone new and not allowing yourself to be vulnerable in the face of a new relationship, because of baggage from your past. The song feels so raw and elemental, and a gathering storm was an image we kept coming back to. In the end, Maria locks herself away and leaves her lover to weather the storm – it’s dark and selfish, but sometimes those are the choices we make.”
Maria left quite an impression last year with debut single ‘Before It Has Begun’ – a mournful finger-picked song that shows off Kelly’s pin-drop vocals and beautiful lyricism.
This summer’s ‘Black & Blue’ still felt vulnerable, with a hint of foolish optimism, managing to effectively captivate her talent for bittersweet storytelling – fans of Regina Spektor and She & Him will feel at home here. ‘Black and Blue’ premiered in Consequence of Sound, who celebrated her ‘silky smooth vocals’ and the maturing richness of her sound, with Nialler9, an engaged supporter of Maria’s music from the very first single having the exclusive on the video.
During the last twelve months along Maria has appeared on the Other Voices Music Trail and was named ‘New Artist of the Week’ by Nialler9 in The Irish Times.
She has also played venues such as Birthdays, The Lock Tavern, Whelans, The Ruby Sessions, The Button Factory, Cyprus Avenue, The Roisin Dubh, and The Workmans Club together with supporting now Berlin-based Indie band HAWK on their UK and Irish tours. Maria has also guest on UK and Irish shows supporting the likes of Orla Gartland and Wyvern Lingo.
Outside of Maria’s current release schedule and live shows, she is working in the studio on new tracks for her EP and developing her live sound with her band in preparation for another busy year ahead in 2017.

Róisín O has just unveiled the video for her latest single “Better This Way”, Set for release on Friday 21 October.
Recorded in Iceland, the video was directed by John Broe and filmed by Dara Munnis. It sees Róisín journeying through the awe-inspiring, yet harsh, Icelandic landscapes, mirroring the tone of the song.
Recorded in Eastcote Studios, London, the track was composed by Róisín O, John Broe (Miracle Bell) and CC Brez (Republic of Loose) and produced by John Broe and Eliot James (Two Door Cinema Club, Kaiser Chiefs, Noah and the Whale) with mixing by Ciaran Bradshaw (Cathy Davey, Fionn Regan, Miracle Bell).
The single is part of the studio sessions for Róisín’s much anticipated second record, which will be released in early 2017. With its foreboding lyrics, ominous melodies and haunting blues guitar riffs ‘Better This Way’ seems to be a culmination of the talents of this writing trio.
Speaking about the track O explains; “‘’Better This Way’ is a bit of a departure for me, it’s a step away from the pop vibes of my last single ‘Give It Up’. In a way it’s a throwback to my folk roots but with a lot more darkness and grit than anything I’ve released before.”
This October Róisín O is stepping away from the studio to embark on her limited run ‘Studio Sessions Tour‘ which will see her present songs in more intimate environments across Ireland; “We have been working hard over the past few months developing the new record and I think it’s important to road test the new songs in venues where we can really feel the audiences reaction”. Róisín is taking the studio on the road and the shows will be recorded live in front of a small audience. The tour will showcase never before heard songs from her eagerly anticipated second album as well as reimagined versions of favourites from ‘The Secret Life of Blue.’
‘The Studio Sessions Tour’ will be Róisín’s final performances of 2016 and will cap off a year that has seen her tour Australia, Europe and America, including stand out performances on RTE’s Centenary Programme and JJ Abrams Oscars Party in LA where she shared the stage with Snow Patrol to perform for Steven Spielberg, James Cordon and more, as well as releasing chart hits ‘Give It Up‘ and ‘If You Got Love‘.
