Colour Of The Holy Sun – The Shaker Hymn

As The Shaker Hymn put the finishing touches to their third full length LP, the Cork based quintet release new single ‘Colour Of The Holy Sun’. Flavoured with George Harrison-esque slide guitars and ‘Beach Boys’ harmonies – it’s a hook laden pop hit that readies the band for stages this summer.

Vocalist, Caoilian Sherlock said: “We don’t often write new songs out of an improv “jam” type of thing – but this started as a little two chords warm up at rehearsal a few months back. I went away and wrote a melody, and lyrically I was aiming for a joyous apocalypse sound. A song to celebrate The Rapture heading our way. In the studio we we’re throwing a lot of unusual names for us – Spandau Ballet and Christopher Cross’ Ride Like The Wind for example, as well as the crooners like Sinatra and Jacques Brel.”

The release of ‘Colour Of The Holy Sun’ comes after a busy year where the band toured extensively around Ireland, while also appearing on the soundtrack to breakout Irish film ‘Handsome Devil’.

This April, The Shaker Hymn begin an Irish tour with Pale Rivers – the synth and guitar led five piece based out of Cork and Tipperary. See them at the Róisín Dubh Galway, Bello Bar Dublin, MusicZone Cork, Gleesons Clonmel, The Roundy Cork, and Connolly’s of Leap in West Cork. More info on The Shaker Hymn’s Facebook page

Cult Called Man – Make It Easy (Official Video) – 1976

Cult Called Man have begun a three-part campaign of retro music videos by taking a step back to the 70’s for ‘Make it Easy’, the first single off their debut album Cult Fiction. The video was shot entirely on Super 8 Film in December of 2016.

In a world where the conventional wants to look like Bieber; Cult Called Man feel that the mainstream attained its perfect image with the likes of Taxi Driver in 1976.

Brass Phantoms – Waiting Up

A Hundred Years – Screefy

Neon Wolf – Empty Vessels

“Empty Vessels”. Produced by Joe Cross (Hurts, Chloe Howl, The Courteeners), “Empty Vessels” was recorded in Dublin’s Cauldron Studios (Hozier, The Coronas, Ryan Sheridan).

“Empty Vessels” is a thrilling three minutes of bouncing beats, dreamy guitars, and tropical synths. This video comes just two weeks after the band’s last release, “Be American”, and is the latest in a run of previously unreleased material that Neon Wolf will be sharing over the coming weeks. “Over the last few years we have built up a catalogue of great recordings that until this point have never been heard by the public”, says Neon Wolf frontman Rob Grace, “so we decided that we’d put them out there, so everybody can hear and enjoy the songs”.

Neon Wolf’s debut EP, Love Lost In Design topped iTunes charts in Ireland and was also released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, receiving both national and regional airplay. In 2012, the band were also awarded the RTÉ RAAP Breakthrough Bursary, having been chosen out of a list of thousands of entrants.

Since then Neon Wolf have built a staunch fan-base in both Ireland and around the world. They have entertained crowds at festivals throughout the country, such as Electric Picnic, Longitude, Sea Sessions, Other Voices, and Indiependence. They have also been invited to play support to many internationally famous bands, such as Stereophonics (Kilmainham Hospital), Feeder (The Academy), The 1975 (The Academy), Alabama Shakes (The Academy), and Hudson Taylor (Olympia Theatre).

“Empty Vessels” is available to watch and download now.
