Marc O’Reilly – Of Nothing

Marc O’Reilly

Releases video for new single ‘Of Nothing’ – Out Now

Taken from ‘Morality Mortality’ – the new album released October 28th 2016 on Virgin Records

Irish singer-songwriter Marc O’Reilly has released the official music video for single ‘Of Nothing’ taken from his new album ‘Morality Mortality’ released 28th Oct 2016 on Virgin Records.

Following the release of his critically acclaimed albums ‘My Friend Marx’ and ‘Human Herdings’ Marc O’Reilly has established himself as one of the most exciting artists within the folk/blues genre gaining comparisons with artists such as John Martyn and Bon Iver.

Marc has toured all over Europe including appearances at major festivals like Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and Boardmasters. He also squeezed in a trip to the US to appear at the Live in the Vineyard Festival in Napa, California.

Róisín O – Better This Way

Róisín O has just unveiled the video for her latest single “Better This Way”, Set for release on Friday 21 October.

Recorded in Iceland, the video was directed by John Broe and filmed by Dara Munnis. It sees Róisín journeying through the awe-inspiring, yet harsh, Icelandic landscapes, mirroring the tone of the song.

Recorded in Eastcote Studios, London, the track was composed by Róisín O, John Broe (Miracle Bell) and CC Brez (Republic of Loose) and produced by John Broe and Eliot James (Two Door Cinema Club, Kaiser Chiefs, Noah and the Whale) with mixing by Ciaran Bradshaw (Cathy Davey, Fionn Regan, Miracle Bell).

The single is part of the studio sessions for Róisín’s much anticipated second record, which will be released in early 2017. With its foreboding lyrics, ominous melodies and haunting blues guitar riffs ‘Better This Way’ seems to be a culmination of the talents of this writing trio.

Speaking about the track O explains; “‘’Better This Way’ is a bit of a departure for me, it’s a step away from the pop vibes of my last single ‘Give It Up’. In a way it’s a throwback to my folk roots but with a lot more darkness and grit than anything I’ve released before.”

This October Róisín O is stepping away from the studio to embark on her limited run ‘Studio Sessions Tour‘ which will see her present songs in more intimate environments across Ireland; “We have been working hard over the past few months developing the new record and I think it’s important to road test the new songs in venues where we can really feel the audiences reaction”. Róisín is taking the studio on the road and the shows will be recorded live in front of a small audience. The tour will showcase never before heard songs from her eagerly anticipated second album as well as reimagined versions of favourites from ‘The Secret Life of Blue.’

‘The Studio Sessions Tour’ will be Róisín’s final performances of 2016 and will cap off a year that has seen her tour Australia, Europe and America, including stand out performances on RTE’s Centenary Programme and JJ Abrams Oscars Party in LA where she shared the stage with Snow Patrol to perform for Steven Spielberg, James Cordon and more, as well as releasing chart hits ‘Give It Up‘ and ‘If You Got Love‘.

King Kong Company have just revealed the video for their latest single ‘Donkey Jaw’ ahead of their End of Festival Season Session gig in The Academy this Friday 30 September. The video from Killer Rabbit Productions can be watched here. Tickets for The Academy €15 including booking fee are available from www.ticketmaster.ie

Right now there are two types of people who populate the live Irish music scene – those who are fans of King Kong Company and those who haven’t seen them yet.

The band headlined The Cosby Stage on Saturday night at Electric Picnic 2016 and they tore the place asunder. There were as many people dancing outside the tent in the rain as there were ecstatic head-the-balls bouncing around inside the packed arena. Two weeks later Pure M Magazine handed King Kong Company the award for “Best Live Act 2016”. The band have been having an extremley good year and it’s set to continue.

This autumn the King Kong Crew will be dealing out their dirty-dubby-electro-rock in venues around the country, with a special “End of Festival Season Session” in The Academy Dublin on September 30th. This band likes to party and on the tail-end of the best year they’ve ever had, KKC have plenty to celebrate. The Academy show is a gig not to be missed.

Donkey Jaw is the next release from the bands critically acclaimed debut album. Although this track isn’t likely to receive much mainstream airplay (it has some adult themes), it’s become the standout track for KKC fans. Both track and video take a tongue-in-cheek look at buzzer culture, providing a stark and familiar warning to those that over indulge in their social lubricant of choice. The video sees Boxhead (King Kong Company’s onstage dancer and crowd fluffer) power through The Fear to rip Saturday night a new one!

Killer Rabbit Productions, responsible for the video for Scarity Dan (Nialler9’s Video of the Week, Pure M Magazine Video of the Year Nomination), have taken up camera duties again for a video as quirkily dark as it is entertaining. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears pricked, King KongCompany are ready to roar.

Tempting Me – In The Willows

‘FALLEN BIRD’ was recorded in Attica Studios under the watchful eye of Ian McNulty (Villagers, The Ambience Affair, The Young Folk), and is the band’s follow-up to 2014’s beautiful & critically acclaimed debut album, “Before Everybody Disappears’.

The band is very pleased, and proud of this EPEasy to understand then why they would be so thrilled as a collective to be told by Tomm Moore that he would like to work with them.  Tomm subsequently offered to illustrate the EP’s cover visual.  The result, a beautiful piece in its simplicity.

In The Willows’ debut album saw the group mixing the lines between folk, alternative, pop and rock to create their own heartwarming and aurally fulfilling sound.

The band has now evolved to a sextet, still mixing it up across the genres!  Track 4 is a further underlining of this musical extension, while the lead radio track, ‘Tempting Me’, remains closer to the band’s underlying alt-folk, indie sounds mixed with some beautiful vocal harmonization.

In The Willows 2016 line up

David Greene: Guitar & Vocals

Tara Heffernan: Vocals & Piano

John Madigan: Piano & Bouzouki

Michael Grace: Bass, Mandolin & Vocals

Rowan Sherlock: Violin

Aaron Mulhall: Drums

Formed in 2011 as an acoustic trio, Waterford band In The Willows gained speedy recognition following the release of its debut EP, Vantage Point, during the summer of 2014.  The EP was released as precursor to the band’s debut long play later the same year.

A number of invitations were received that summer for both national & local independent radio together with the band being chosen as a spotlight artist by Guinness Amplify.  To date the band has also featured on Other Voices Music Trail, a festival they would dearly love to be part of again in the near future.

Earlier this year, In The Willows was also invited to perform at Whelans’ Dublin now annual Ones To Watch Festival.

Eoin Glackin – Club Classic

Eoin Glackin, who is known for his passionate story-telling and roots-rock style, is set to show another side to his song writing within The Club Classic EP which features upbeat, pop-infused songs, at times more influenced by Prince and Beck and Kris Kristofferson.

As an artist, ever- evolving and experimenting with his own sound and style, Glackin pushed himself far beyond his comfort zone from his self-titled Hotpress Award nominated album and his most recent EP Pretty Girl, to bring together a contrasting collection of original tunes.

Eoin tells of the transition and formation of the curiously titled track Club Classic: “I had the lyric idea in my head but I thought it might be something I could write for another singer someday, but I couldn’t leave it be and I ended up just writing it for myself. It’s really a love song.”

Despite the new sonic-shift, the Dublin singer assembled his long-time producer Ian Grimble, a veteran, and his long running band to tackle the new songs, while also enlisting some fresh blood in upcoming Irish producer Paddy Hunt, whom Eoin first met at an IMRO seminar.

With a keen wit and knack for creating and sharing stories alike, his original style is by no means abandoned but merely developed; adding a unique layer to the and highly anticipated musical sound.

The tracks featured on The Club Classic EP can be heard live as Eoin and his full band take to the Workman’s Club stage on Saturday 16 April.
